Darwin Clean Fuels is proposing to design, build and operate a 60 000 bpd condensate processing facility together with a 10 000 bpd LPG conversion plant to produce high quality transport fuels that will meet the new Australian Standards for clean fuels.

The plant will be located at Middle Arm near the newly planned Inpex LNG processing facility and the ConocoPhillips LNG plant. Feedstock for the plant will be supplied from Timor Sea, North West Shelf and other regional natural gas fields.

The new processing plant will supply high quality petrol, diesel, LPG and jet fuel to the Northern Territory market. In addition, Darwin Clean Fuels will be seeking to export petrol to markets such as Asia, Australia's East Coast, New Zealand and the US West Coast, where stringent environmental standards for fuel quality are already in place.

The Darwin Clean Fuels project capitalises on Darwin's proximity to the Timor Sea gas fields and Asia, Darwin's natural deep water port, new bulk liquid facilities at East Arm Port, the new transcontinental AustralAsia Railway linking Australia's northern and southern coasts, and the new Darwin Business Park.

The project is estimated to cost over US$800 million and construction is anticipated to commence in 2016/17. The project will initially employ over 200 construction workers, with 130 full-time employees after project commissioning.
